CUCUMBER DREAMS
starring
MICHAEL CROSS BURKE, New York

Ever wondered what you can REALLY do with a cucumber? You'll find out a lot more than you bargained for! Educational, too! Find out more about sex, gay monkeys... and a really interesting... date.
In Cucumber Dreams, award-winning queer performance artist Michael Burke aggressively explores, queer identity, conspiracy theories, sexual fantasy,
promiscuity, dating, homosexuality in the animal kingdom and vegetables. This humorous and sexy solo performance piece features multi-layered storytelling expressed through spoken text, dance, sound score, and visual imagery.
Highlights include Michael juxtaposing a detailed account of his worst date ever with a movement vocabulary derived from the gestural language of Bonobo Chimpanzees (these crazy homo chimps share 98% of a human’s DNA.)
Michael uses a huge pile of cucumbers- metaphorically and as a healthy snack- to tie everything together. Cucumber Dreams promises to have a sense of humor and provide homoerotic fun for everyone!!!
“I LOVED CUCUMBER DREAMS! Michael Burke's honesty and naughty Tin Tin meets Candide queer narratives are a joy. Cucumber Dreams has a sweet humor and an unflinching honesty about the complexities and em-bare-ass-ments of life! A thorough pleasure. " -Tim Miller, performance artist
“Michael Burke has a stand-up’s timing and a dancer’s grace.” -Patrick Rapa, Philadelphia City Paper
“Burke’s solo performance pieces are timeless, funny and inspiring. Did I mention how he looks in those little shorts! He’s eye candy with heart!” - Jade Esteban Estrada
"Burke is a rising performance art star!" - Jed Ryan, PM Magazine
“Most rewarding is Burke’s light-footed tread through the subversive material, culminating in a curious imagining of a gay jungle paradise- as opposed to the
dysfunctional urban one.” -Juliet Fletcher, Philadelphia City Paper
