They don’t provide a lot of information about this either in the promo or on the CD; but essentially it’s peaceful melodic music with an Indian flair. It features instruments such as sitar, bansuri, sarod, and Indian violin, which I believe (I’ll be happy to stand corrected) is tuned differently, G-D-G-D rather than the western G-D-A-E.

Some of this has an Eastern gait to it, some is more western but over an Eastern groove. So it’s more evocative of India than actually India in the flesh – like the old “east meets west” idea that was new a couple decades back. This is cool, romantic, a bit jazzy at times; more often than not the pieces here feature a solo instrumental of one or more instruments over synth pads and a beat, without a lot of counterpoint or complicated background. This and a little curry will make for a nice evening in.
